ONE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1968)
Directed by Sergio Leone
Written by Sergio Donati and Sergio Leone
Story by Sergio Donati, Bernardo Bergolucci, Dario Argento, and Sergio Leone
Starring Henry Fonda, Jason Robards, Claudia Cardinale, and Charles Bronson

As an enormous Leone fan this is, to my mind, his premiere work, far superior to THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY for one thing, they don't stop in the middle of the movie to fight the fucking civil war. In truth, I am as big a fan of westerns as I am of horror movies I'm just not as drawn to making them.

CITY OF GOD (2002)
Directed by Fernando Meirelles with Katia Lund

Probably the greatest film of the past five years. What the fuck went wrong when Meirelles went on to direct the interminably simple-minded and preachy CONSTANT GARDENER?

THE GREAT SILENCE (GRANDE SILENZIO, II) (1969)
Directed by Sergio Corbucci

MUDHONEY (1965)

BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1970)
Directed by Russ Meyer
Written by Roger Ebert and Russ Meyer

Luckily, Roger Ebert gave something great to this world by writing this film, so he may not go to Hell for introducing the country to the simplistic Thumbs-up/Thumbs-down style of film criticism.

THE NAKED KISS (1964)
Written and Directed by Sam Fuller
Starring Constance Towers

If I had to make a top ten films, I'd be forced to put this one in there. One of the best: sleazy and beautiful.

JOHNNY GUITAR (1954)
Directed by Nicholas Ray
Screenplay by Philip Yordan
Starring Joan Crawford

I think I just ordered the last DVD copy of this on Amazon. I've been waiting for it to come out, I don't know what happened. A very campy but well done, fast moving, girl cowboy movie.

My second favorite of the high-concept pop comedies. The cast is incredible! Enrico Colantoni should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. It freaked me out when I learned he was the boring guy on JUST SHOOT ME (and it takes a lot to be the boring guy on that show).
