The building with the awning is at the corner of Market and Milam Sts in downtown Shreveport. The awning IS over the entrance, but the entrance can't be seen because it is actually a flight of steps down to the basement. If the photographer were a few steps further back where the ground was visible, it would be evident. The building houses a nightclub in the basement, to which this is the entrance. The main entrance to the building is from the streetfront to the left. The building is not bandoned nor is this part of downtown. It is in the heart of the central business district, though the photo doesn't suggest that.

I am from Shreveport, and my brother used to work for Glorioso Casting. Thats so awesome you'll be there. Your pics are crazy surreal looking by the way.
I'm going to see if I can be an extra just to get the chance to meet you.
If you ever want to know more ins and outs about the town, let me know.

They most likely bricked over the door where the awning is. It's cheaper than repairing the door twice a week from vandals and homeless folks breaking in.

Bonus! Now you know where to go to have the dead squirrels stuffed should another one die on your lawn.

Those are some great shots, Jimmy - very evocative of the area, though "Southern" may not be a goal for your film. That small blue nightmare of a room with the toilet. Is that a jail cell?

reminds me a bit of where I'm living now, and the place where I graduated from. Denton is a two college town so it has alot of old buildings, some are rundown or made into something strange looking ( Denton is very hippy like) and I graduated from a small town just outside Denton ( I just say gaduated because I moved alot through North Texas until we finally where able to settle.) but on main street it looks like your driving through the 1940's/50's and, so I've been told, was used in 10 seconds of the movie Armageddon. there is a diner there that has since closed and remains closed that I've been so tempted to get some money to buy it and have it just for shooting stuff in. but it's just a dream really. I pass by all these things and it makes me wish I could be a director so I could get these awsome things on film before the go away, as ALOT of things recently have done with the demolition of half of fry street and no more fry street fair :(
